The Council gives effect to directives from the Synod, the Diocesan Board, the Bishop, the Archdeaconry Board and from any other constituted authority within the Diocese.  In addition, it evolves policies that would ensure the proper management of the human and material resources of the parish church.  It is also to ensure that facilities for the proper cure of souls are available to the vicar and the curates. For the efficient discharge of these responsibilities, the council operates the committee system. The membership of Council for the year beginning in February 2024 is shown in Appendix I.

Committees of Council

Council operates the committee system to give effect to its decisions and assist the Vicar, Clergy and Wardens in managing the church.

The Ministries and Fellowships of the Church

We believe that every member of God’s household should be a worker for God.  God has given each one gifts to be used for the benefit of His household, the church.  Every member is therefore encouraged to join others with the same or similar perceived gifts to serve the Lord within a relevant ministry of the church.  While the membership of Council and Committees are fixed, those of the ministries are fluid and vary according to abilities and interest.

When you become a member of the Church or you are going to be with us for an appreciable length of time, we advise you to volunteer to serve in ministries or fellowships of your choice, but preferably not more than two for effectiveness.  It is expected however that all church members will avail themselves of the blessings through the empowerment at Bible Study and Prayers and through service in the areas of Evangelism, Missions and Church Planting. Similarly, all baptised women are expected to be members of the Women’s Guild.
