Attributes that bring restoration: Desire

God intends for us to be complete and whole. For as many that are far from this, He is able to repair, renew, or bring you back, that what is damaged, lost, or deteriorated is restored. Jesus said in Luke 4:18-19; that His mandate is to heal the sick, give sight to the blind, and raised the dead; also give redemption and salvation to the world. Through the situation of the blind man in Luke 18: 35-43 we see how a deep desire to be healed led to the restoration of his sight. The poor blind man was yet inquisitive and seized the moment to shout “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me”. His desire to for his sight to be restored could not be drowned by noise of the crowd, nor restrained by the people. He poured out his soul “…that I may receive my sight”.

Desire is a catalyst to divine restoration. it fuels and drives an intentional longing, a clear focus that prioritize our spiritual needs. Desire gives a sense of purpose for our spiritual goals. Hanah’s intense desire for a child drives her to weep and pray earnestly at the temple (1 Samuel 1:10-20). The bleeding woman’s desire for healing leads her to believe that touching Jesus’ cloak will restore her health (Mark 5:25-34). King David and the Prodigal desire for reconciliation and a better life drive both to return to their fathers in repentance (Luke 15:11-32; Psalm 51). Throughout his trials, Job maintained a deep desire for understanding and remains faithful to God.

Desire provides the energy and enthusiasm to engage in spiritual warfare. The blind man fervently and earnestly cried out to Jesus because he desired to receive his sight. Regardless of your spiritual and physical conditions you need the deep desire that can light the fire in you to persistence in prayer and fasting, and in searching of the word, so that delays and challenges will not detract or dissuade you from your miracles.

Desire opens you to divine intervention. Your heart and mind are opened the possibility of miracles, you become more receptive to Holy Spirit workings. His gift(s) are quickened in you, you become sensitive to the Spirit’s signs and messages through dreams, word of knowledge, prophesy etc. Desire strengthens your faith that miracles and restoration is possible and within reach, you therefore expect them. This makes you to be committed, fervent and consist in prayer and meditation. Desire increases your thirst after the Spirit (Psalm 42:1-2), you always want to be connected to Him. It aligns your will with God’s, making you to be in harmony with Him, you submit personal desires to Him, trusting that He will restore in the best way.

Are you feeling spiritually flustered, weak and stuck? Have you lost your passion, faith and willingness to fight spiritual battles for your miracles and restoration? The Lord urges not to wane nor give up. You need to fire up your desire. When desire is weak or missing, we become something else from what God intends. Do not be content on your current position, do not give up on your prayers and longings. Your desire for the fruit of the womb, for healing, for promotion and breakthrough should wax stronger. The right kind of desire is that which is content with more of God in you. Paul said in Phil 3:10 “that I may know him and the power of his resurrection…” More of God in our lives lead to the fulfilment of our desires Ps 37:4.

What is or are the desire(s) of your heart this moment? Keep it up in prayers, stay in Him and he will fulfill the desires of your heart.
