BECOMING GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE
“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession” Deut. 7: 6
The Israelites were a chosen race, to be a special people unto the Lord their God, above all people that were upon the face of the earth. They were also a royal priesthood, they were a holy nation, for they were separated from all the people of the earth that they might worship the one only true God, and abstain from the abominations that were in the heathen world.
They were also a peculiar people, a purchased people; a private property, belonging to God Almighty, Deuteronomy 7:6; none other having any right in them, and they being under obligation to God alone.
They were special in that Israel was God’s own possession for the specific purpose of fulfilling the eternal scheme of Redemption.
In this present dispensation God had extended this love to us by allowing His only Son Jesus Christ to die for us on the cross of Calvary, as a result there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free nor there is neither male nor female, because we are all now one in Christ Jesus and because we of Christ, we are Abraham’s seed heirs according to the promise. Gal.4:26-29.
Also, 1Peter 2:9 confirms it by saying, “But you are a chosen People a royal Priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special Possession, that you may declare the praise of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Therefore, what is expected of us in order to maintain our relationship with Christ? 1 Peter 2:1-3
Points it out; It says we should rid ourselves of everything that may hinder our relationship with Christ. In order words let us abstain from all appearances of evil, things that will not glorify God.
Our position with God must reflect Christ who through His blood adopted us as Sons and daughters of His kingdom.
