BEING TRANSFORMED INTO CHRIST’S NATURE
Text: 2 COR. 3: 18 “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord”.
Our Lord Jesus Christ had dual nature while here on earth viz: human and deity; however, He was absolutely perfect in every way and in all He did hence He remains our perfect example in our Christian walk. As human beings, no one is perfect, even our patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; the prophets, Apostles and all the rest were not perfect. We aim to attain perfection but that can only happen when our mortal body has been changed to immortal one”, corruptible changed into incorruptible (1st Cor. 15: 50– 54).Exodus 34: 29 – 35 Moses was a man accustomed to seeking the face of God and also being in God’s presence (Ex. 24: 12 – 32: 14) no wonder his face reflected some radiance associated with being in the presence of the Lord for an extended period of time (cf Acts 4: 13; 6: 15; Acts 11: 26).
For anyone to be transformed into the nature of Christ, first and foremost, the person must have dumped the Adamic nature (fleshly, worldly, ungodly, carnal nature) for Christ’s nature which only comes by accepting the sacrificial death of Christ on the cross for lost humanity (Rom. 5: 12 – 21); then submitting oneself as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God; rejecting the world, but being transformed by the renewing of one’s mind through the agency of the Holy Spirit, studying and meditating upon the word of God; trusting and looking unto Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith (cf. Rom. 12: 2; Heb. 12: 2).
Jesus Christ, our Lord, revealed His glorious nature on the Mount of Transfiguration in Matthew 17: 2 – 5; as such Peter and his companions desired to build Tabernacles where they would remain with Christ eternally, but were quickly interrupted by God’s voice; the same is repeated in the gospel in Luke 7: 28 – 36. Christ’s nature enabled Him to ascend to heaven after He had finished His work here on earth. He has promised to come back to take us so as to be where He is right now (John 14; 1 – 3).
Children of God, there is the need for every one of us to do away with the veil of unbelief, the law – old covenant, self righteousness and all we think we can do, let us fully embrace the Holy Spirit who alone can help us live and have the nature of Christ so that at the end of our sojourn here on earth, we shall have the hope of making eternity with Christ. May God Almighty, in His infinite mercy help us to surrender totally to Him in Jesus name.
Have a glorious, rich and fulfilling week. God bless you in Jesus name.
