INTRODUCTION

We give glory to God for His word has been a lamp unto our feet and a light to our paths as Girls and officers of the Girl’s Brigade, Nigeria, 12th Lagos company, Our Saviour’s church TBS and thankful for all that was achieved in Year 2023.

OUR MISSION: To serve God and humanity by training girls wholeheartedly to become followers of Jesus Christ.

OUR VISION: Girls’ lives transformed and God’s world enriched.

OUR MOTTO is, “To seek, to serve and follow Christ.”

OUR AIM : To help girls become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, through self control, reverence and a sense of responsibility to find true enrichment of life.

THE YEAR 2023’s ACTIVITIES

1.  Re-Dedication Service: We started off the year being in attendance at the State Girls’ & Officers Rededication Service which was held on the 15th January at All Saints Ang. Church, Ketu, Lagos.

2.  State Monthly Meetings: Our officers regularly took part in the State Monthly Council meetings held at All Saints Anglican Church, Oshodi, Lagos .

3.  Palm Sunday Procession: In collaboration with the Boys’ Brigade of our Church, we were able to lead the congregation with the Brigade Band at the Palm Sunday procession on the 2nd of April, 2023.

4.  Annual Training Camp: Some of our girls represented the Church, at the Annual Girls’ Camp which was held from the 11th to the 14th of April and the Officers’ Annual Training Camp from the 14th to the 16th of April, 2023. These trainings were held at the same venue- CMS Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos.

5.  African Fellowship Leadership Conference: It’s with great delight that Our Saviour’s Church, TBS had two(2) representatives who fully participated in the AFCON/Africans Girls Gathering hosted by our country, Nigeria and was held in Abuja from the 29th  of July to the 5th of August, 2023. The two representatives are:

  • Ms. Afolake Adeboyejo – OSC, TBS
  • Miss Evangeline Akujobi – OSC TBS

The gathering was an eye opener for learning more about how to nurture our girls to become better Christians, sisters, daughters, mothers and wives in the larger society. Our representatives from Our Saviour’s Church, TBS took part in the every day drills and sessions of the gathering. We look forward to attending and participating in the next AFCON Conference scheduled to hold in Kenya.

6.  Retreat: The Girls & Officers of the Girl’s Brigade, Nigeria, 12th Lagos company, Our Saviour’s church TBS took part in the District Retreat organized by District 1 in August 2023 at Church of the Resurrection, 1004 , Victoria Island.

7.  Independence Day Display: Along with the Boys’ Brigade, the Girls’ Brigade celebrated the nation’s Independence Day at the 9:00 am service in Church on Sunday, the 1st of October, 2023.

8.  Christmas Carol/End-of-year Party: To end the year 2023, our girls participated and made donations to the District 1 Christmas Carol/Party which took place at Holy Trinity, Ebute- Ero.

9.  Enrollment Service Attended: We attended the Enrollment Service of some churches within the year in view.

10.  Meeting Days: The girls meet every Sunday after the 9:00 am service at the Chapel area along with the Boy’s Brigade for parade practice, learning of musical instruments, Bible study, entrepreneurial skills and lots more. We use this medium to encourage all parents to enrol their daughters in the Girl’s Brigade from age 4 to adulthood.

11.  Challenges: The dire need for more committed members of the Girls’ Brigade in our Company and anticipation for an Enrollment Service to usher in more girls to “Seek, Serve and follow Christ.”

APPRECIATION

The Girls’ Brigade sincerely appreciates the support of our past and present Vicars, the parents of our Brigade girls, the congregants and our beloved Brigade patrons. May God continually keep you as soldiers of Christ and bless you beyond your expectations in Jesus name. Amen.
