Due honour to the unchanging God for his mercies
”“For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.“ Malachi 3:6 NKJV.
All glory, Honour, praises and adoration to The Unchanging God for mercies received, favour enjoyed and the Shekinah glory lavished on us in the journey of life. We are grateful to you all for joining us today to honour this faithful God as we commence the year 2024 Harvest Season. May God continue to bless, Honour and prosper you.
It is an obvious fact that many things have changed in recent years. Ways of life of many have been affected by many factors that cut across dimensions of life and endeavors. There are statistics that have suddenly become obsolete because of new trends, government policies, economic realities and many other factors. Notwithstanding the contradictions of our times, God is ever faithful to His words. He does not change. The world may change and people will change, but God does not change. This is the reason we have not been consumed. His mercy has kept us. His love has continued to enfold us. He has continued to lavish His grace upon us on a daily basis.
The Theme we received at the beginning of the year, for the year 2024 Harvest is a special one. It is the promise of God as declared in Joel 2: 26:27 and summarized as works of “The Unchanging God”. “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame. Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the Lord your God And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame. “Joel 2:26-27 NKJV. It communicates the kind of Restoration which only comes from our Father, the giver of all good gifts. Anyone who choose to make a covenant with Him by honouring Him through willing sacrifices like King Solomon, will not only enjoy His favour but will also flourish and continue to bask in the joy of divine blessings in all areas of life.
God never intended that we accept defeat in any areas of life. He saved, restored, helped, healed, preserved many people in times past and has not stopped doing same and much more in our generation because of His mercy. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. The promise in our text is not only to the Israelites, it is for us too. He remains God of restoration. We should also remember that God does not restore as the world will —putting things back as they should be. His plan for restoration always involves restoring things to us better than they would have been.
Beloved, as we approach the throne of Grace this morning, I implore you to prayerful make unique decision to honour God today with your substance. As we embark on the journey to commence the multipurpose building which houses the Church Clinic offering free medical services to the people, redefine Children ministry with a well-planned facility for our children and the accommodation for the development and empowerment of our youths, trust the Unchanging God to help you.
Our Prayer for you is that, God who is able to make all grace abound toward you, will grant that you will enjoy sufficiency in all things, and have abundance for every good work.“ II Corinthians 9:8. Amen.
Your Vicar, Brother, Friend and Archdeacon,
The Venerable Folorunso OreOluwa Agbelusi.
