HEALING OF THE WORLD

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” 2 Chronicle 7:14.

The ministry of healing is a key part of the gospel of the Kingdom. The great truth that God heals runs all throughout the Bible. Both Old and New Testaments give witness to God’s provision for healing our sicknesses and diseases. A large portion of Christ’s earthly ministry was directed considerably to ministering physical healing to the sick and afflicted. The history of the early Church is full of great healings and miracles, done in the Name of Jesus. It was only in the Dark Ages, when the Church went into apostasy, that the great healing river became a tiny stream.

There is no way we can discuss healing without talking about sickness or diseases. The Bible affirmes that Adam and Eve were created sinless, blameless and guiltless. They were created in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:26). To crown it all, the Bible says that everything God created was good! Where then did sickness originate? There was a moment in  history when man stood on the edge of tragedy. A single act of disobedience displayed by Adam and Eve plunged the human race into a long, dark fall from the presence of God. This singler act of disobedience introduced into the world negative things which afflict mankind today – spiritually, psychologically and physically. DIS-obedience is the source of DIS-ease, DIS-order, DIS-ability, DIS-tress, DIS-comfort, DIS-aster, DIS-cord, DIS-couragement, DIS-harmony, DIS-integration etc.  They are known as “catabolic emotions” They are destroyers of health.

Undoubtedly, disobedience breeds diseases and sickness, spiritually and physically. To live in health therefore, we must all make efforts to obey God and His word.

Surely, the world is sick, especially our nation Nigeria. Things are not working well in our nation and everything is in shambles. Apart from our disobedience, sin at every level brought us to the state where we are today. Proverbs 14:34 says “Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people”. Today I bring you good tidings as recorded in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”. In other words, if our dear nation Nigeria will survive this ill-health  we are suffering from, if the recession which is seriously and deeply biting on our economy will turn to progression, then obedience to God and to  constituted authority is key; and everyone of us, both the leaders and the led must make conscious effort to do away with sin (corruption), return to God and live a righteous life. The move must start with you and I today!
