GREETINGS AND FELICITATION

1. 1. Christ is Risen! He is risen indeed! Halleluia!.  We congratulate our parishioners, all our loved ones and other worshippers this morning on the celebration of Christ’s resurrection and our victory over Satan, Sin and the World.  God will empower us with the Holy Spirit daily so that we can reflect Jesus Christ and His Victory and Joy in our lives always.  We also pray that we shall live long in robust health, peace and prosperity to celebrate more of it in the years ahead in Jesus name.
   2. We welcome all our eminent guests (first timers) very specially and pray that God will orchestrate unusual testimonies in their lives and families in Jesus name. We appeal to them to fill the form given to them and to also wait briefly to see the ‘WELCOME TEAM” after this service. They are also enjoined to each take a copy of our bulletin for reference.
   3. Congratulatory felicitations to all the birthday celebrants of the week. We wish them all longevity, robust health, sustained joy, divine peace and accomplishment in Jesus name

3. EPISCOPAL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE:- In recognition of the sacrificial contributions to advance the Kingdom of God here on earth, our Diocesan and Dean Emeritus, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), The Most Revd Dr. Ephraim Adebola Ademowo,has decided to honour two of our members: (i)  Sir Stanley Amuchie;  (ii) Mr. Akin Akinfemiwa, with the Episcopal Award during the 2nd Session of the 33rd Synod of our great diocese on Wednesday, 10th May, 2017 at 11.00 a.m in our church here.  We congratulate them and identify with their success stories.

5. INAGURATION OF THE SUB-COMMITTEES OF THE PARISH CHURCH COUNCIL FOR YEAR 2017/2018: The inauguration and swearing-in of the Committees of Council as announced last Sunday will hold next Sunday, 30th April, 2017 at our combined service at 9.00 a.m. We appeal that all of them and the PCC members that missed the swearing-in should be present punctually.  Kindly see names of their chairmen and vice.

7. ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DUE: is a minimum of N1,000.00.  We appeal that we all register to become full members of our parish.
8. THE NEEDS OF OUR PARISH: We thank all our members for your continual supports, generosity and personal sacrifice. Your labour of love will not be in vain.  We appeal to our members to pray concerning the following items which are needed by the church and as led by the Holy Spirit to assist  in donating them
   • Wafer bread (priest wafers & for the congregation)
   • Imported sets of chasubles for the use of the Priests, for the celebration of Holy Communion.
   • Toyota buses (High roof & Medium room)
   • Copies of Hymn Books

INFORMATION FROM THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA:

1. PRIMATE’S MEETING WITH PROMINENT ANGLICANS: The meeting will hold in Abuja on May 4, 2017.  Please all our members invited should endeavour to be at the meeting.  The Primate is counting on you and he is also praying for you.
2. SUPPORT FOR CLERGY STIPENDS IN SELECT DIOCESE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA:  At the just concluded Standing Committee meeting of  the Church of Nigeria   (Anglican Communion), it was decided that parishes and individual (so touched) should please support some of the weak dioceses in the payment of their clergy stipends.  Kindly   extend  your  hands of fellowship through your generous donations or link up with the Vicar for   further information.  May God bless you as you do so.

INFORMATION FROM THE DIOCESE:

THE SECOND SESSION OF THE 33RD SYNOD OF THE DIOCESE OF LAGOS:  The 2nd Session of the 33rd Synod of our great diocese begins today Sunday, 7th May, 2017 with the Opening Service at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina at 4.00 p.m.  Synod meetings will hold in our Church from Monday, 8th May to Wednesday, 10th May, 2017 to start with Holy Communion Services/Mattins at 8.00 a.m. daily.  The Clergy Conference will hold on Thursday, 11th May, 2017 at 9.00 a.m.

We bespeak the prayers of the faithful for the Diocesan and President of the Synod, The Most Revd Dr. E. A. Ademowo, OON, FNAL, Ph.D,  all other members of the Synod and also for a wonderful and resounding successful synod session.

 

WOMEN’S & GIRLS’ ORGANIZATIONS

1. 2017 LAGOS PROVINCE ANNUAL WOMEN’S ESSAY COMPETITION FOR YOUTHS: Theme: “No Cross, No Crown”.  Levels:  Pry. 6; JSS 3.  Interested candidate should get in touch with the Vicar’s wife for details.
2. PARISH WOMEN’S ANNIVERSARY WEEK: All women should please, note that this year’s Women’s anniversary week will commence from Sunday, 30th April, 2017 with a 3-Day Revival (Monday – Wednesday) and Anniversary Thanksgiving/Awards on Sunday, 7th May, 2017 at both services.
3. WOMEN’S GUILD MEETING/ CONTEMPORARY ISSUE: Date:  Wednesday, 26th April, 2017.  Topic: “Your dress is your address”. Time: 4.00p.m, by Mrs. Chinwe Osuno. May you be richly blessed as you attend.
4. YOUNG WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME: The Young Women’s Fellowship programme comes up today, 23rd April, 2017 immediately after the 8.00am service. Two topics will be treated on the day (a) Fashion and Beauty (1 Peter 3: 1-4);  (b) Television and children  (Prov. 22: 1- 6). Speakers:  Mrs. Magdalene Adegoke & Dr. (Mrs.) Furo Weli  respectively.
5. REGISTRATION FOR 2017 MOTHERS’ UNION ENROLMENT:– Members willing to enroll into Mothers’ Union for the year 2017 should please put down their names and telephone nos. with the Vicar’s wife (Mrs. F. Oyediran) or with the Admin. Manager today or within the week.
6. WIDOWS’ WELFARE FUND:  Kindly donate towards the Fund established to assist the widows of this church and God would visit you and all yours.
7. DIOCESAN CHARITY DAY: The Charity Day for the needy within our environment comes up on Saturday, 20th May, 2017 at 10 a.m. We appeal for donations in cash and kind.  Items needed include: Food stuff (Rice, beans,      yam, noodles, vegetable oil, provisions etc.); new and fairly used clothing, kitchen utensils etc. These items should be deposited with the Vicar’s wife, any of the Curates’ wives or at the Church Administrative Office.  May God bless you as you do so. OTHER INFORMATION FROM OUR PARISH

1. DIVINE ENCOUNTER (VIGIL): Our monthly Divine Encounter (Vigil Service) comes up on Friday, 28th April, 2017 from 10.30 p.m.  The theme is:  “The Lord is my helper (Psalm 121)” You are all expected to come and commune with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
2. BE CONSCIOUS OF YOUR VALUABLES: Members and visitors are henceforth advised to be conscious and take care of their valuables such as bags, telephone handsets, money etc. in the church and outside the church premises because of the bad elements that mingle amongst us.
3. ILLEGAL PARKING ON GOVERNMENT ROAD: The Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts observed the illegal parking of vehicles within our environment, and advised that members should please, utilize the TBS parking lots being paid for, every Sunday.
4. MEN’S CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP MEETING:- The  meeting of members of the Men’s Christian Fellowship comes up on Saturday, 29th April, 2017 at 9 a.m.  All members should endeavour to attend.
5. THE LITERATURE AND PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE: requests the submission of entries for the June 2017 edition of The Good Tidings Magazine. The entries may be in the form of articles, jokes, riddles, cartoons, etc., that would be of benefit to readers. Please send soft copies of your entries to goodtidings@osc-tbs.org  If desired, authors may send in their photographs along with their entries. Please note the committee will review the entries and where contextual amendments are to be made, the committee will contact the author for approval.
6. APPRECIATION FROM:
   1. THE HOSPITAL VISITING MINISTRY/CHURCH CLINIC: The members of the Hospital Visiting Ministry/Church Clinic say a BIG THANK YOU to all members of the church, for your support (both in kind and cash) towards the success of this year’s Easter Cake Sales last Sunday, and pray that God will reward you all abundantly in Jesus name. We also thank those that pledged and already redeemed their pledges, while we seize this opportunity to remind those still owing to please, redeem accordingly.

THE SARUMI & EJOGA FAMILIES: expresses sincere appreciation to our Dean Emeritus, The Most Revd Dr. Ephraim Adebola Ademowo,Mama Lagos, Mrs. Oluranti Ademowo, all the Bishops that participated, our Vicar, Ven Oyetunde Oyediran and his wife, all the Curates and their wives, members of the Choir, Guild of Stewards, Praise Band, and members of the congregation, for your support through prayers, presence and generous gifts towards the huge success recorded during the solemnization of holy matrimony of our children Mr. Edache & Mrs. Bisola Ejoga, recently.  Our prayer is that God will continue to uphold you and your entire household.  Things of joy will never depart from us.  Thank you all
7. FUNERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: We share in the pains of the following:
   1. The family of Engr Woji and Dr(Mrs) Furo Weli announce the passing on to glory of their mother and mother-in law Madam Member Omubo-Pepple who was called to eternal glory at the age – about 84 years, on the 20th of April. The funeral arrangement will be announced later.
   2. The family Engr. Chuma & Engr. (Mrs) Francisca Ngini on the call to glory of Mrs. Adenrele Elizabeth Aneke (Nee Allen) [mother-in-law and mother respectively]. Burial arrangements:  Thursday, 27th April, 2017 –  Service of Songs at NPA Ground, Bode Thomas, Surulere;  Friday, 28th April, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 111, Lewis Street, Lafiaji, Lagos.  Interment at Ikoyi Cementry. Receiption  follows immediately at Police Officers Mess Onikan, Lagos. Sunday 30th April, 2017 – Outing Service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Apapa at 10 a.m.
   3. The family of Sir Okey and Lady Nkoli  on the call to glory of  Nneokwukwe  Madam Rhoda Moka. Burial on the 26th May, 2017 at Ichida, Anambra   State.
8. VACANCY FOR ORGANIST:  The church is in need of a competent and experienced  organist to serve as an assistant organist.  Interested and qualify candidates should send in application with C.V. to the Vicar not later than 23rd April, 2017.  Ability to train the choir would be added advantage.
