Notices for March 12, 2017

    1. All glory, honour and praises to God for His faithfulness and goodness that have hitherto preserved all of us.  We welcome all our parishioners and other worshippers at this service.  God will surround all of us with His presence and favour, and also steadily and with Divine speed fulfill His purposes in our lives and families in Jesus name.
    2. We welcome all our eminent guests (first timers) very specially and pray that God will orchestrate unusual testimonies in their lives and families in Jesus name. We appeal to them to fill the form given to them and to also wait briefly to see the ‘WELCOME TEAM” after this service. They are also enjoined to each take a copy of our bulletin for reference.
    3. Congratulatory felicitations to all the birthday celebrants of the week. We wish them all longevity, robust health, sustained joy, divine peace and accomplishment in Jesus name.
  1. MID-DAY PRAYERS DURING LENTEN SEASON: There will be mid-day prayers (12 noon – 1 p.m) from Mondays to Fridays in our church throughout this Lenten period.  Please pray for the grace to be there.  There will always be a clergyman to lead us.
  2. PRAYER REQUEST: Members are implored to send prayer requests to the church during our spiritual programmes and activities both on Sundays and weekdays.  You do not have to include your names/identities.  These prayer requests must reach the Vicar at least two (2) hours before the start of such services.
  3. MEMBERSHIP DATA:- We appeal to all our parishioners to fill and return the membership data form being provided at this service.  We need to update the data base so as to serve you better.  We wish to start sending daily devotionals, information and other spiritual materials.

All members of the Parish Council (both elected and appointed) are enjoined to book the Parish Council Meetings which usually hold on the last Thursday of every month at 5.00p.m in their diary. Regularity and punctuality are essential and will be highly appreciated.

  1. ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DUE: is a minimum of N1,000.00.  We appeal that we all register to become full members of our parish.

THE NEEDS OF OUR PARISH:  We thank all our members for your continual supports, generosity and personal sacrifice.  Your labour of love will not be in vain.  We appeal to our members to pray concerning the following items which are needed by the church and as led by the Holy Spirit to assist  in donating them

(i)         Wafer bread (priest wafers & for the congregation)

            (ii)         Imported sets of chasubles for the use of the Priests, for the celebration of Holy                                  Communion.

INFORMATION FROM THE DIOCESE:

  1. SUPPORT FOR CLERGY STIPENDS IN SELECT DIOCESE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA:  At the just concluded Standing Committee meeting of  the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), it was decided that parishes and individual (so touched) should please support some of the weak dioceses in the payment of their clergy stipends.  Kindly extend your hands of fellowship through your generous donations or link up with the Vicar for further information.  May God bless you as you do so.
  2. DIOCESAN YOUTH GLORIOUS NIGHT:-  Date:  Friday, 17th March, 2017 at 10 a.m.  Venue:  Good Shepherd Anglican Church, Marine Beach, Lagos.  Theme:  “Walking in His Path”.   All the Youth should note and attend.

 

WOMEN’S & GIRLS’ ORGANIZATIONS:

  1. ANNUNCIATION OF BLESSED VIRGIN MARY: This annual Holy Communion Thanksgiving Service to commemorate the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be holding in our church by God’s grace on Saturday, 25th March, 2016 at 10.00 a.m.      
  2. IKOYI ARCHDEACONRY QUARTERLY MEETING: Date: 19th March, 2017 at Our   Saviour’s Church TBS immediately after the 8.00am service. Topic: For I know the plans I have for you, declare the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. (Jer. 29: 11)
  3. IKOYI ARCHDEACONRY SPIRITUALITY PRAYER MEETING: Date: 15th March, 2017 at Our Saviour’s Church TBS.  Time:  3.00 p.m
  4. IKOYI ARCHDEACONRY GIRLS & LADIES’ GUILD: Archdeaconry Mothers’ Day Workshop (Ankara bag (s)) on March 18, 2017 at St. John’s Church, Falomo Time: 11.00am Resource person:  Mrs. Haniel Adeyemi
  5. RE: WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: We thank God for the success of this years Women’s World Day of Prayer that was held on Friday 3rd of March, 2017. The highlights in Prayer-Follow-Up action are:

      i.) Individuals to empower somebody

      ii.) Parish to train Indegent Children in  school

      iii.) Archdeaconry to empower at least 5 Women per Archdeaconry to start a Trade.

      All  women should take note  and act accordingly.

  1. WOMEN’S GUILD MEETING/HEALTH TALK: Date: Wednesday, 15th March, 2017 – Topic: “Cerebrovascular Accident (stroke)by  Dr. B.O. Koleowo.   Time: 4.00p.m.  May you be richly blessed as you attend.
  2. 2017 MOTHERING SUNDAY: Mothering Sunday is  on 26th March, 2017.  Please pray for the success of the programme.
  3. REGISTRATION FOR 2017 MOTHERS’ UNION ENROLMENT: Members willing to enroll into Mothers’ Union for the year 2017 should please put down their names and telephone nos. with the Vicar’s wife (Mrs. F. Oyediran) or with the Admin. Manager today or within the week.
  4. YOUNG WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP SAPPHIRE HOUSE: – Please note that the Sapphire House of the Young Women’s Fellowship will have a retreat on the 18th of March at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina at 10 a.m.  Members should please plan to attend and you will be richly blessed.
  5. WIDOWS’ WELFARE FUND: Kindly donate towards the Fund established to assist the widows of this church and God would visit you and all yours.
  6. PARISH CHARITY DAY:The Charity Day for the needy within our environment comes up very soon.  We appeal for donations in cash and kind.  Items needed include:  Food         stuff (Rice, beans, yam, noodles, vegetable oil, provisions etc.); new and fairly used   clothing, kitchen utensils etc.  These items should be deposited with the Vicar’s wife, any of the Curates’ wives or at the Church Administrative Office.  May God bless you as you do so. We share in the pains of Mrs Adewola Akinyemi (wife), children, in-laws, family members, the Guild of Stewards & entire congregation on the call to glory of our Vicar’s Warden, Rotimi Akinyemi after a brief illness.  He was aged: 62 years.  Funeral arrangements are as follows:  Monday, 20th March, 2017 – Service of Songs in the Church Hall.  Time:  5.00   p.m.; Tuesday, 21st March, 2017 – Burial Service at Our Saviour’s Church, TBS at 11.00   a.m.

Funeral arrangement for Ezinne Elder (Mrs) Nena Uche (Iyom Abiriba), mother-in-law and  mother of Chief (Sir) Ziggy and Lady Chichi Azike.   Tuesday,  21st  March, 2017 –  Service of Songs at 12, Ekenna Avenue, G.R.A. Abiriba (Visitation by Women’s Guild  and other church groups).  Time:  5 p.m; Friday, 24th March,  2017 –  Commendation Service at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church, Abiriba at 4 p.m.;  Christian wake at her        residence, Isi-Abadam, Ugwu Court, Abiriba at 6 p.m.;  Saturday, 25th  March, 2017 – Open Air Service at  the ground of Egwuena Girls’ Secondary School, Agbo Court, Abiriba.     Interment follows immediately after.
