GREETINGS AND FELICITATION

    1. All glory, honour and praises to God for His faithfulness and goodness that have hitherto preserved all of us. We welcome all our parishioners and other worshippers at this service. God will surround all of us with His presence and favour, and also steadily and with Divine speed fulfill His purposes in our lives and families in Jesus name.
    2. We welcome all those who are worshipping with us for the first time into our midst and pray that God will orchestrate new and unimaginable miracles in their lives and families. We appeal that they should kindly wait briefly after the service to interact with the “WELCOME TEAM.” They are to exit the church through the door on the lectern side of the church.
    3. We congratulate and felicitate with all those who celebrate their birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and other landmark events this week. God will continue to protect and guide them. He will also sustain their joy and continue to be mindful of them and their desires and aspirations in Jesus name.

  1. HOLY/ PASSION WEEK: commences today and by God’s grace, we shall assemble in the church at 6.00 p.m from tomorrow to Wednesday for prayer services while we shall commemorate the institution of the Lord’s Supper (Holy Eucharist) on Thursday at 6.00 pm. On Friday, we shall have two services. The first Service will be at 9.00 am, while the 3-hour service will start at 12noon and we shall examine the Sub-Theme: Shaped by His Grace. Please key into all these programmes and attend punctually.
  2. EASTER SUNDAY: Next Sunday is Easter Sunday and we shall celebrate our victory over Satan, Sin, and the world through the glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We shall be having two services just like today 7.00am. Holy Communion and combined Holy Communion Service at 9.00 am. There will be thanksgiving as well at both services. It is good to be grateful.
  3. SECURITY OF MEMBERS
    • a) Members are implored to use the car park that we paid for at the Tafawa Balewa Square directly behind our church building every Sunday. We wish to ensure adequate security during all our programmes and activities. Security operatives will be more effective if there is free movement in the compound.
    • b) We also appeal that we should all cooperate with and obey the security personnel because they are working for our good.
    • c) Please all worshippers are sensitized to be vigilant during services and other activities and they should not leave their personal belongings unattended because of hoodlums that may be mingling with us.
  4. OUR SPIRITUALITY: For us to have improved and guaranteed Spiritual growth this year, as mentioned earlier, we have decided to introduce Bible School which is going to be only two hours per week. To also ensure convenience for all our members and other interested people from outside, we have put in on Saturdays at 9 a.m. – 12noon. in the chapel. We are going to have a Workbook. There will be homework and two exams and we shall receive certificate at the end of the exercise will last for six months.
  1. MONTHLY BAPTISM: Our baptism holds every first Saturday of the month.  Please plan to key into this, as your preferred date could clash with other programmes and can lead to rejection of your date.
  2. SPECIAL OCCASSIONAL PAMPHLET /PROGRAMME: Henceforth, approval in respect of order of service for special programmes such as weddings, burials, birthdays, service of songs, commendations etc must first be collected from the Vicar before further action. Members should please, note and comply.
  3.  DRESSING OF BRIDES AND OTHER MEMBERS OF  THE BRIDAL TRAIN DURING WEDDING SERVICES: We use this medium to appeal to  all parents and guardians whose children (daughters or daughters-in-law) will be getting married to teach them the dignity of decent dressing, especially during wedding services. By decent dressing, we mean that the wedding  gowns and other wedding dresses should cover the entire body. Any indecent dressings during such occasions will be frowned at and the clergy will not take kindly to  it.

This is a very important notice that must be taken seriously by all our parishioners and other worshippers because we will not compromise the Word of God for any reason.

 

INFORMATION FROM CHURCH OF NIGERIA

        EPISCOPAL SYNOD OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (Anglican Communion)  FEBRUARY 7, 2018.

         ELECTION OF A SUCCESSOR  BISHOP TO LAGOS DIOCESE

A statement by the Church’s Episcopal Secretary, The Rt.. Revd. David O.C. Onuoha said:

“The election was held in four other dioceses at the Cathedral Church of St. Barnabas, Ilorin, Kwara Diocese, in accordance with the Church’s laid down rules and regulations.  It was free, fair and credible.

A total of 161 bishops participated in the election and pursuant to the provisions of Canon V of the Constitution and Canons of the Church of Nigeria 1997 (as amended), candidates were nominated after advice from the diocese, which favoured translation was circulated and read.

The procedure before every election in the House of Bishops is to appoint a team of returning officers to collate the results.  This was strictly followed with the Rt. Revd. Sosthenes Eze, Bishop of Enugu North Diocese, leading eight other Bishops to perform this sacred duty.

According to the statement, The Most Revd Michael Fape and Rt. Revd. Humphrey Olumakaiye, constested the election after their nomination.

It explained that only Fape and Olumakaiye were duly nominated and seconded by members of the house without any objections, adding that after the voting by secret ballot, Fape scored 51, while Olumakaiye scored 109. One member was absent at the election.

  1. TOUCH NOT MY ANOINTED AND DO MY PROPHETS NO HARM:- Our Saviour’s Church, TBS, Lagos is known worldwide as a peaceful, Bible-believing and Bible-living Church. Therefore, we appeal to all our parishioners and other worshippers to jettison, discountenance and ignore any libelious, damaging and derogatory fliers/handbills against our Primate, Bishop and any other servants of God that may come to them in any form or shade.  Please destroy such documents.
  2. MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE AT THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF CHRIST, MARINA-LAGOS on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 10.00 A.M: Parishioners who wish to have items such as oil and water blessed by our Diocesan should please bring such items (properly labelled – names and phone numbers) to the Admin. Office on or before Wednesday evening, March 28, 2018.
  3. DIOCESAN ELDERS FELLOWSHIP FAITH CLINIC: The monthly Elders’ Fellowship Faith Clinic on the last Thursday of every month will not hold this  month because it fell on MAUNDY THURSDAY.

 

WOMEN’S & GIRLS’ ORGANIZATIONS:

  1. WOMEN’S GUILD MEETING/CONTEMPORARY ISSUE: Date: Wednesday, 28th March, 2018. Topic: “The total Christian woman” Time: 4.00 p.m. by Mrs Eunice Okoh. Please come and you will be richly blessed.
  2. PROCLAMATION OF THE RISEN CHRIST: Date: Sunday, 1st April, 2017. Time: 5.00am. All women should please assemble in the church for take off.
  3. WOMEN OF GRACE MEETING: Next Sunday, 1st April, 2017. Topic: “The Pursuit of Happiness” Venue: Chapel Extension by Mrs. Zipporah Bello, immediately after the service.
  4. 2018 ANNUAL DUES: All women are reminded of the payment of Mothers’ Union & Women’s Guild annual dues of N2,000= each. Kindly see the Vicar’s wife or any of the Curates wives for the payment.
  5. WIDOWS’ WELFARE FUND: Kindly donate towards the Fund established to assist the widows of this church and God would visit you and all yours.

  1. HOLY WEEK SERVICES: Holy week services will run daily from tomorrow:
    • Monday, 26th March, 2018 at 6.00 p.m

    • Thursday, 29th March, 2018 (Maundy Thursday) commemoration of the Institution of Holy Communion at 6.00 p.m.
    • Friday, 30th March, 2018 (GOOD FRIDAY) – Service at 9.00 a.m. Three Hour Meditation – 12 Noon to 3.30 p.m.
  1. REQUEST FOR UNLEAVENED BREAD & COMMUNION WINE FOR MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE: We appeal for the donation of unleavened Bread and communion wine (s) to be used during the Maundy Thursday Service. Please note that you can pay for a carton of Communion Wine or more at the rate of N7,500.00 in the church. May God bless you all as you respond to our call.
  2. MID-DAY PRAYERS DURING LENTEN SEASON: The mid-day prayers still continues till Wednesday (12 Noon – 1.00 p.m). Please pray for the grace to be there. There will always be a clergyman to lead us.
  3. BIBLE SCHOOL: Our Bible Study still continues every Saturday 9.00am – 12 Noon. Those that have fully registered for this season should note and attend punctually.
  4. PARISH COUNCIL MEETING:- Members of the 2018/2019 PCC should please note that the monthly meeting for the month of March will hold on Thursday, 5th April, 2018 at 5.00p.m., that is, after Easter celebration instead of the last Thursday of the month.
  5. HOSPITAL VISITING MINISTRY/CHURCH CLINIC ANNUAL EASTER CAKE SALES: The annual delicious Easter Cakes being provided by members of the Hospital Visiting Ministry/Church Clinic to raise funds for the purchase of drugs, equipment and extending hands of fellowship to the needy ones will come up on Sunday, 1st April, 2018 (Easter Sunday). Please note and patronize or book for some in advance through any member of the Ministry. Thank you and God bless.
  6. OVERCOMERS’ HOUR:-  Our Overcomers’ Hour has now been changed from 1st Day of every month to the 1st Saturday of the month from 8 – 9.30am (so as create time for weddings and other services) with lots of prayers,  deliverance, anointing etc.
  7. MONTHLY THANKSGIVING OF THE CHURCH:- All members should please note that we shall be having monthly thanksgiving on the last Sunday of every month to appreciate God’s mercy and blessings upon us.
  8. ADMISSION FORM INTO JS ONE BABINGTON MACAULAY JUNIOR SEMINARY: The admission form into the above-named Junior Seminary is now on sale in this church at the Admin’s Office. Payment of N10,000.00 (Ten thousand Naira Only) should be made into Zenith Bank Plc: Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary Account No: 1012883577. The teller would be used to obatain the form. Kindly liaise with the Admin. Manager for details.The closing date for the submission of forms is 31st May, 2018 while the Examination date will be the 2nd of June, 2018.
  9. ADMISSION INTO ARCHBISHOP ABIODUN ADETILOYE COMPREHENSIVE COLLEGE (AAACC), IGBOYE: The entrance examination for the above-named co-educational (boys & girls) and boarding school comes up on Saturday, 14th April, 2018 at the following centres:

    • Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos, 3. St. Michael’s Church, Epe.

EASTER WELFARE PACKAGE:- The Church is organizing Easter Welfare Package for needy members of our church only.  Those interested should please meet the Welfare Committee of the Church for interactions and registration.  The meeting holds in Adetiloye Conference Hall.  Date:  Monday, March 26, 2018.Time is 4.00 p.m.

THE MUSICAL SOCIETY OF NIGERIA (MUSON):  This body will be having Passionate Concert in conjuction with their Choir and Orchestra to be conducted by Sir Emeka Nwokedi performing MOZART’S REQUIEM on Sundays 18th and 25th March, 2018 at 6.00 p.m. daily.  The choir and other members can attend please.
