POWER TO FULFIL DESTINY (Jer. 29: 11)

God created the whole earth and heavens for a purpose.  In Genesis 1: 26-28, God created Man in His image and according to His likness and gave Him dominion over His entire creation.  He blessed them and said “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over it.  He made us the reflections of His glory.  We are empowered with the ability to reflect His character as we administer His world on His behalf.  To have dominion over something is to have absolute authority and control over it.

God has ultimate rule over the earth, and exercises His authority with loving care.  Ours is a delegated authority and power and this must be used to His glory.

The old nation of Israel was chosen of God through their patriachs (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) who obeyed and served God with absolute loyalty and allegiance.  God loved the Israelites uniquely and made them His treasured possession, a Kingdom of priests and they were to serve Him wholeheartedly without distraction.

They later forsook Him and were taken to captivity by the Babylonians.  They were in this state for a long time,  that they started losing the hope of deliverance.  They became despondent and discouraged but Prophet Jeremiah gave them a message of hope.  In Jeremiah 29: 11, God told them that His plan for them was that of welfare and hope, and to have an expected end.  God was going to send His anointed for their deliverance.  This was later fulfilled when King Cyrus of Assyria conquered the great Babylon and sent them back to Jerusalem, their home country.  Nigeria is in a similar hopeless and despondent state today and God is promising an iminent deliverance.  We have destinies to fulfill.  If we will come to Him, listen to Him and hearken unto His voice, He is ready to commission us to experience His power and thereafter be fulfilled.

Destiny is God ordained purpose and plan for each individual and nation.  The fulfilment of this destiny is entirely dependent on our yielding to obey Him.  Samson was a child of great destiny but he lost the destiny as a result of carelessness and non-chalant attitude.  Joseph, one of the sons of Jacob was a very disciplined, cultured, obedient, and prayerful child of God who despite his ordeals succeeded in fulfilling his great destiny that was revealed earlier in his dreams.  As children of God, we are called into a life of faith, trust and obedience and as we daily follow our Lord and Master Jesus Christ, He will make known to us what He has in store for us and also empower us to accomplish it.  The Bible says that “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things  which God has prepared for those who love Him”  (I Cor. 2: 9)

We can have a glimpse of this, if we take a decision to walk closely with Him and consequently receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit to accomplish it.  Remember also that we are not contending with flesh and blood, but with principalities and powers, etc.  and the devil prowls around, roaring like a lion and looking for those to devour (I Peter 5: 8; Eph. 6: 12)

These are destiny killers who we all have to guard against in our sojourn here on earth.  The consumation of our destiny is the heavenly kingdom of God.  His ultimate purpose is for us to reign with Him in heaven.  For this to be actualized, we must be well rooted in Christ and His word and prayerfully forge ahead.

Our first Revival of the year starts today and we trust God that He will demonstrate His power among us in a new dimension.  Let us all break all barriers to attend, undoubtedly, the agelong challenges in our lives, marriages and finances will be eliminated and we shall all experience God’s intervention.

We look forward to seeing you at the Revival from tomorrow to Wednesday, 31st January, 2018.

Have a fruitful week and God bless you.
