SERVING TILL HE RETURNS
Every Christian is a servant of the Lord Jesus and we have been given the grace to serve Him. Ephesians 4: 7: “But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.” God did not just give gifts but also gave gifted men such as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers who would help us to carry out the ministry or service committed to every one of us. God, therefore expects us to keep serving Him wherever we find ourselves. This service requires total obedience, loyalty, faithfulness and dedication.
What service are we talking about? It is all about reaching out to the people of the world and telling them about Christ, the free offer of salvation He has given to all who will accept Him as his or her Lord and personal saviour. The Bible says in 1st Corinthians 10: 31 “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” As artisans, professionals in any field, labourers, unemployed, educated or not, God owns all of us and the life He has given to us He expects we shall use same to glorify His name by wining souls for Him.
Rahab, a prostitute, used her ignoble profession to glorify God by protecting the spies who were sent to Jericho, and in return she was saved alongside with other numbers of her household, (Joshua 6: 22 – 25).
Ruth, a Moabites, chose to serve an old woman who had no hope and future, and was rewarded by being in the lineage of Christ our savior (Matthew. 1: 5).
Obed-Edom opened his house to accommodate the Ark of the Lord, and he was tremendously blessed (2nd Sam. 6: 10 – 12; 1st Chronicles 13: 13 – 14).
The parable of the Ten Minas (Luke 19: 11 – 27) shows that God owns the world and wants us to use what He has given to us to serve Him. Let us choose to be like the wise servants who made good profit from what their master gave them to do business with. They were handsomely rewarded when their master returned. The foolish servant was equally paid back with was own coin.
Jesus is certainly coming back (John 14: 1- 3), and He will reward each one accordingly. May God grant us the grace to remain faithful, committed and loyal in serving Him until He returns.
Have a glorious week and remain rapturable. God bless you.
