Taking possession through the power of Holy Spirit
Today is Pentecost Sunday or Whitsunday. It is the day that the Church was empowered through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Originally, it is the Jewish festival known as Shavout.
Pentecost is celebrated on the 50th day after Resurrection and on the 10th day after Ascension.
Pentecost Sunday is one of the most important day in the life of the church.
God baptized the disciples with the power of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost and they were empowered to preach the Gospel, live like Christian, stand their grounds and defend their faiths.
Acts 2: 1 -3 “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them”.
When the power of the Holy Ghost came upon the disciples they were changed to a new people.
The Holy Spirit power is the power from God that has the ability to touch and renew the life of a man. We all need this power in our lives to be able to live a regenerated, transformed and victorious lives in this sinful and wicked world.
Any life that is devoid of the power of the Holy Spirit will be spiritually barren, dry, inactive, faithless, non-focused and will be less impactful before God. Such life will not be fruitful and will be less relevant before God.
We must allow the Holy Spirit to impart his power on us like the day of Pentecost for us to be able to live and operate like Christians.
Acts 1: 8 – “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth”.
God promised that upon receiving this power we can do the extra-ordinary for Him. Preach the Gospel, heal the sick, raise the dead and deliver the troubled ones in our world. I pray that this power of Holy Spirit will come upon us today, so that we can be good followers of Jesus Christ.
John 20: 22 – Jesus breathed on the disciple and prayed that they should receive the power of God as a parting gift to them all.
On this day of Pentecost, may you receive the power of Holy Spirit from God.
John 1: 12 – “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name”.
For you to receive the power of the Holy Spirit into your life as a Christian, it is required of you to first receive and accept Jesus Christ into your life as your personal and only Saviour.
Unfortunately today, many Christians do not know and receive Jesus into their lives. Their live are far away from Jesus Christ their Saviour.
Consequence upon that, is that they lack the power of the Holy Spirit.
Finally, this Pentecost Sunday is an ample opportunity for you to give your life to Christ and He will give you the power of the Holy Spirit and you will become a good child of God.
